2003

Proposal and study for the installation of a non-linear poem on the underpasses around SEPTA’s elevated tracks between Lehigh and Girard Avenues in North Philadelphia. The poem would provoke pedestrians to contemplate the spaces they occupy.  Each line of text should stand on its own, but relate to the rest of the text in the proposed installation so that the pedestrian’s exploration of the neighborhood yields greater insight with a greater investment of time such that the complete poem might be read over the course of a thirty to forty-minute walk. No one path will be dictated as the correct version of the poem.  Instead, the full text should be discovered through chance and exploration.
