A music and art ‘zine whose manifesto celebrated local culture, authentic weirdness, and real-life experiences of the world over TV and corporate mediated culture. Based in the college town of River Falls, WI, Speedmeter featured writing and design by Erik Moe with contributions from friends. The ‘zine evolved from a photocopied print publication to an early experiment in web publishing hosted on student server space at uwrf.edu. From there it was selected for inclusion in the New York’s New Museum of Contemporary Art’s 1995 exhibition alt.youth.media.
