An installation in collaboration with sound artist Lizzie Peabody, HIDE/SEEK asked visitors to climb in to one of two discrete crawl spaces—one in an attic and one under basement stairs—to spend five minutes in dialogue with a stranger in the other space via headsets. Participants were discouraged from giving their names. Prompts included “what are you searching for? and “what are you hiding from?”

A conversation and a provocation about the city we love, the city we have, the city we want. The phrase "MAKE DC WEIRD" inspires questions and dialogue about those proudly unique things we want to celebrate with our neighbors, and about the role of arts and culture in a changing DC.

Proceeds are dedicated to commissioning new works by DC artists engaged in this conversation. BUY A STICKER ►
